The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a member of banned Indian Mujahideen on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Ariz Khan alias Junaid , 32, was held in connection with a series of bomb blast acses across India since 2005.
According to NIA, the accused was arrested in a case pertaining to the activities of Indian Mujahideen, in association with the IM sleeper cells based in the country and others. These members conspired to commit terror act by targeting prominent places of India especially in Delhi by causing bomb blasts.
With the active aid and support from their Pakistan based operatives and associates, the terror outfit planned to wage war against India, the NIA stated.
“Investigation in this case has revealed that accused Ariz Khan @ Junaid was involved in the serial blast at Delhi in the year 2005, serial blast at Varanasi in the year 2006, Uttar Pradesh Court blast in the year 2007, serial blast at Jaipur in the year 2008, serial blast at Ahmedabad in the year 2008 andserial blast at Delhi in the year 2008,” said NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal
Khan was charge sheeted by NIA on September 22, 2014 vide the second supplementary charge sheet, Mittal told Mirror.
The accused was produced before NIA Special Judge, Patiala house today. He will be in police custody till April 24. A dedicated team of NIA officials is interrogating the accused.
